The ensemble ARS CAMERALIS is famous in its double performance activity, including
13th to 15th century music on the one hand, and contemporary music on the
other. The ensemble's rich repertory is still being extended not only by the
new transcriptions of historic music, mostly supplied from the original
sources - medieval manuscripts, but also by new 20th-century works.
The art director of the Ars Cameralis ensemble, the composer and clarinetist
LUKAS MATOUSEK studied the Conservatory in Prague and Janacek's Academy in
Brno. He studied medieval music and medieval musical instruments in London.
He gave lectures on medieval musical instruments and the interpretation of
medieval music at international musicological conferences. He has written a
book, "Musical Instruments of the European Middle Ages".

The Martinu Quartet came into existence in 1976, and originally was
called Havlakovo (until 1985). The members of this quartet studied
at Prague Conservatory under Viktor Moucka, and at the Academy of
Performing Arts under Antonin Kohout. They participated in a number
of courses led by members of internationally important quartets,
and won awards in several international competitions, for example
in Prague Spring Festival, Portsmouth (Great Britain), ARD Munich,
Evian (France). The quartet gives concerts regularly both at home
and abroad (Europe, USA), organizes regular tours (Holland, Spain),
takes part in international festivals (Prague Spring, Arjeplog,
Sweden; Orlando Festival, Holland; Bath in England, and others) and
they collaborate with radio and television. Their repertory
includes compositions of the world quartet literature, focusing
mainly on Bohuslav Martinu's works. Many compositions as performed
by the Martinu Quartet have been recorded on CDs.
